Campbell, California, is located in Santa Clara County, a part of Silicon Valley. The city was founded in 1846 by Benjamin Campbell. Acreage he bought for farming was later the core of historical downtown Campbell. In 1887 the first subdivision was established west of the railroad. Campbell was known as a center for shipping fruit, and before long canneries and drying grounds made Campbell a rail center.
