Located in San Mateo County is the incorporated town of Atherton. The city is in the 94027 Zip Code, which is ranked as one of the most expensive Zip Codes in the United States. The history of Atherton dates back to 1866 when it was called Fair Oaks. Fair Oaks was the flag stop for the Southern Pacific Railroad running between San Francisco and San Jose on the California Coast Line.
